How did you choose your school name?

The word Genesis means the formation or beginning of something, so Amanda and Jacob decided on the name to symbolize a new chapter in our life when we started our own training facility.

How long have you been teaching?

Nearly 30 years.

Who or what inspires you?

I am inspired by my students. Seeing the dedication they show up with to the gym every day and how hard they work to achieve their goals is what inspires me.

What is something special or unique about your school and/or students?

Something unique about Genesis is the diversity of our group and how everyone comes together to create a family atmosphere. I think it is something really special to have people from all walks of life come together and support one another and work towards a common goal. From the coaching staff to the fight team to our recreational members the support and encouragement both inside and outside the gym is definitely something you don't see every day.

What made you choose FUJI Mats for your facility?

When we were building our new facility we wanted to make sure we were providing our fight team and members with the best possible place to train, so naturally, with the reputation, FUJI Mats has it was one of the first places we looked at. Their support and assistance in designing the facility were really what put it over the top for us and we could not be happier with how our mat space turned out.

What is the most rewarding part about working in the martial arts field?

The most rewarding part of working in MMA for me is watching my students achieve their goals. Being a part of someone making their dreams come true and changing their life is something I am very grateful to be a part of.

If you could give one piece of advice to other martial art school owners what would it be?

Work hard and stay humble.

Genesis Training Academy is an MMA gym located in Arvada, CO. We offer boxing, kickboxing, and Jiu-Jitsu at all levels from beginner to advanced. We pride ourselves on offering the highest level of training available while maintaining a fun all-inclusive atmosphere, where everyone feels welcome. We are the proud home of Genesis Fight Team which consists of both pro and amateur fighters who are active in local promotions all the way up to LFA, Bellator & UFC.
