How did you choose your school name?

TRUJITSU is a name that was created around the idea of teaching a form of Jiu-Jitsu that is practical and probable for all practitioners. No matter what your age or physical attributes Jiu-Jitsu is for everyone.

How long have you been teaching?

20 years.

What is your student creed or mission statement?

To Improve lives by teachIng Jiu-Jitsu that does not require speed or strength.

Who or what inspires you?

My students. Seeing my students accomplish goals they thought were impossible before.

What is something special or unique about your school and/or students?

One of the most unique qualities at TRUJITSU Bakersfield is the level of support every student has from the culture of the gym. No student is left behind. TRUJITSU Bakersfield is also where The TRUJITSU System of Jiu-Jitsu was originally launched. TRUJITSU is now being taught throughout the United States and in Canada.

What is the most rewarding part about working in the martial arts field?

Changing lives and seeing students accomplish great things.

If you could give one piece of advice to other martial art school owners what would it be?

Never forget it is a blessing to teach Jiu-Jitsu. No matter how tough or exhausted you may feel, never forget it is a privilege, and what we do, and how we act can change lives for the better or for the worst, so set the best example possible. Encourage positive beliefs, and encourage positive attitudes, and that’s how we make a positive contribution to our communities.
